Dear Friends, Family, & Clients,
This week (month and year) I have been doing a lot of what one could classify as thinking. I’ve been thinking about family, life, photography, careers, future, what makes me happy, what makes me dance, what keeps me active, and mainly priorities. It all boils down to the simple fact that there are no redos when you are a mom. I can relaunch a photography career, repaint a canvas, and patch a torn sock. I cannot however get back my baby’s first steps, my pre schooler’s room parties, or that long awaited date night with my amazing husband. I have managed to keep most of these items in tact this year but it has been so much harder than I had ever imagined it to be.
Without going into too much detail – my family dynamic has changed in a way it makes it hard for me to devote enough time to my craft. I want to give the best experience, customer service, and artwork to each client. At this moment I feel that I cannot offer it all and continue to rock it as a mom, friend, and wife. I have toyed with the idea of offering less services to my clients (not offering printed products, in-person consultations, ordering sessions, offering a different format of images, letting you choose what I edit, offering less images in general – the possibilities are endless). Truly though I feel many of these options offer you a huge disservice. I want to be at the top of my game and running a business I love in a timely fashion. For this reason, I have decided to take a sabbatical. I plan on returning to photography when my family needs me a little less or I cannot take being away from my camera any more. I am unsure if I will continue 11-on-11 posts. I made it to a year of posting 11 images on mostly the 11th of each month. It was an awesome goal I am glad to have achieved. I may change it up a bit, or choose a different theme. We’ll see what this month holds!
Please do not worry, if we are in contact about a previous or future session/wedding nothing has changed for you. You’ll continue to receive the service I have promised you.
Take Care My Friends and Continue Recording Those Memories!
Becky
