When Dana contacted me to document her family of three before becoming four I was super excited. I had a session at this same time period of my life and it is some of my favorite photos to look at. First the amazing momma body. It still amazes me how much our bodies will morph in such a short time frame to grow a new life. It is miraculous. Then secondly, comparing the growth of my older child in this case little R, to the growth after they become a big sibling is inspiring. My whole plan for this session was to follow R. See what he found interesting, what he wanted to do, and how he interacted with his parents and the world.
Little known fact about me, I once planned to be an elementary school teacher. I was mid-way through my studies when the universe had other plans for me. Since then I have worked with children in many ways, even substitute teaching at both of my children's preschools. I love interacting with children. When combined with my love for inspiring laughter (in fourth grade I aspired to be Betty White) it really all lends itself to photographing people and putting them at ease. Playing off of their interests and evoking emotions of joy. Little R was no exception. He and I did jumping jacks, squealed with delight, and watched each other with wonder through out the session. He did great even letting me sneak in a few extra solo shots at the end of the day with Dad and Mom. He definitely earned his treat of applesauce!
